From Incident Blotter for week of January 19-25, 2024:

 

January 19, 2024

  • At approximately 4:20 pm police were dispatched to a Newtown Township restaurant for the report of a fraud in progress involving counterfeit currency. 

 

January 20, 2024

  • At approximately 1:35 pm police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a check fraud. 
  • Around 5:00 pm a Newtown Township business contacted police to report check fraud.

 

January 21, 2024

  • Police were dispatched to Lululemon around 4:00 pm for the report of a retail theft.


January 25, 2024

  • Police were dispatched to TD Bank at 5:40 pm for the report of an attempted fraud in progress. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was taken into custody and charged with identity theft, possessing a controlled substance, evading arrest or detention on foot, resisting arrest,

Newtown seems to be a target for criminals - probably because of easy access to the I-95 corridor route to and from Philadelphia, etc.

 

I anticipate that once Wawa domes to the Newtown Bypass we will see even more traffic and criminal activity - especially fraud and theft. On the way out of town, the criminals can stop for a quick coffee at Wawa!
