The SDG Index & Dashboards assists countries in getting started with implementing the new SDGs. The SDGs are a universal agenda of sustainable development, calling on all nations to pursue a holistic strategy that combines economic development, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability.
On July 6th, ahead of the G20 meeting in Hamburg, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and the Bertelsmann Stiftung published the 2017 SDG Index and Dashboards Report.
The report makes it clear that world leaders must strengthen their joint efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Not only does a rising trend of nationalism and protectionism impede the implementation of the goals, but the report shows that industrialized nations are not serving as role models. Many of the world's richest countries are nowhere near achieving the global policy objectives — further, their negative spillover effects are hindering the implementation process in poorer countries.
Governments and civil society alike can utilize the SDG Index and Dashboards Report to identify priorities for action, understand key implementation challenges, track progress, ensure accountability, and identify gaps that must be closed in order to achieve the SDGs by 2030.
