Marriage — it’s one of the greatest gifts we’ve been given, yet sometimes one of the things we take most for granted. This July, spend 30 Hot Summer Nights with us as we bring you a different article each day focused on real-life marriages, passion, love, and faith. Many thanks to Jen Frost at the Church of St. Thomas More in Oceanside, California, for bringing me together with an awesome group of cross-country guest bloggers to share our special spin on married love.

Need some ideas for a romantic, fun, silly, thoughtful, or impromptu date night? Visit our Date Night Idea Linkup, where you’ll find a ton of ideas for celebrating with your partner. Check back all month long, as new ideas will be posted each day. Visit: http://goo.gl/8bej8

Refreshing the Examen

…If you pray the Examen regularly, you might try this variation by Paul Wilkes, a noted Catholic author:

What did I do that made me happiest?

Where did I feel ashamed of myself?

What action would I do over again and how?

What habits or tendencies worked for or against me?

When did I feel most in alignment with what is best in me?

Publications, Tools and Informational Resources Created by Healthy Relationships CA

Check out HRC’s new Download Center & Resource Store

Healthy Relationships California (HRC) is excited to announce a new, online resource for the Relationship and Marriage Education (RME) community.

Over the last five years, HRC has developed promotional materials for various RME curricula (in English and Spanish), created a series of powerful and attractive, research-based publications, and produced a number of informative handouts that make a convincing case for RME.

Because we know these resources will be of value to others around the country, we have now made it possible for everyone to download more than 100 of these promotionals, booklets and other publications for free, or order hard copies at cost, through HRC’s Download Center and Resource Store.

By Donald Wuerl, Published: June 28

Cardinal Donald Wuerl is archbishop of Washington.

This is a significant moment in our public conversation on marriage. By ruling a key part of the Defense of Marriage Act unconstitutional and choosing not to rule on the question of same-sex marriage in California, the Supreme Court essentially declared that the federal government may not set parameters for the definition of marriage but, instead,…

Do we need to set aside the Word “Marriage” and use “Holy Matrimony” exclusively? « Archdiocese of Washington

In the wake of the supreme court decisions of this week, I would like to return to a question I have Asked before: Are we coming to a point where we should consider dropping our use of the word “marriage?”

It is a simple fact that word “marriage” as we have traditionally known it is being redefined in our times. To many in the secular world the…
