Webinar: COVID-19: Social security and deconfinement: Strategies and operational measures

Tuesday, 12 May 2020, 10:00–11:00 (UTC/GMT+2 or CEST)

Language: English

Speakers:

Agis Neugebauer Agis Neugebauer, Chief Officer of Corporate Development, German Federal Pension Insurance (Deutsche Rentenversicherung Bund), Germany
Xiaoyan Qian Xiaoyan Qian, Deputy Director General, International Cooperation Department, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, China.

Some countries have started to lift restrictions due to COVID-19. Social security institutions are designing and implementing strategies to adapt their services and internal organization to this phased process. During this transitional stage and in a context of uncertainty, social security institutions need to adapt continuously to gradually return to regular operations while ensuring the safety of staff and clients. Some of the lessons learned during the period of containment, for example on the use of online services, will have a significant impact on strategies for returning to a "new normality".

This webinar will discuss institutional strategies and approaches during the deconfinement period. It will examine the following issues:

  • What are the main institutional challenges encountered during the period of progressive deconfinement?
  • What are the institutional priorities for this period?
  • Which face-to-face user services will be reactivated in priority, and how will they be adapted to the context?
  • What are the approaches adopted regarding internal organisation and human resources management?
  • Which of the practices introduced during the period of confinement in terms of client services and internal organization could be adopted on a permanent basis?
